Accredited Accounting Degree - What To
Look For
What's the difference between accredited accounting degrees
and non-accredited degrees? They are as opposite as day and
night. If you earn an accredited accounting degree online then
it is just as good as any degree that you would earn if you
physically attended a college or university.
Non-accredited degrees, on the other hand, are worthless to
anybody who actually inspects them. For example, they are not
recognized on your transcripts as being official. Why not? It's
simple -- selling degrees can be a big business.
Imagine this scenario. You only have to do a few
assignments, and in as little as six weeks you can earn your
accounting degree. Of course, it will cost you a couple
thousand dollars. See? Basically they are luring people in who
want to take a shortcut in earning their accounting degree and
they are making massive amounts of money on these people.
No proper government authority would ever authorize these
degrees as being valid, because it's obviously a scam. Nobody
is learning anything. Thus, they are not considered as valid
accredited accounting degrees. You basically just bought one
very expensive piece of paper.
However, just because an online course offers accredited
degrees doesn't mean that you are in the clear either. Let me
demonstrate. Let's say I opened up my own institution that
offers accreditation. You came to me with your university and
asked if I would accredit your degrees. I said yes. Now you can
offer accredited accounting degrees.
Of course, these are not any better than non-accredited
accounting degrees. In order for a degree earned online to be
equal to a degree that you would earn at a university, it has
to be accredited to the proper governmental educational
agencies.
The point of this article is that you simply cannot sign up
with any old institution that offers accredited accounting
degrees. Do your due diligence. It's easy to spot the fakes. In
any circumstance, if it seems to good to be true then it
probably is. Figure out who is authorizing their accreditation
for their degrees.
Imagine if you unwittingly completed a non-accredited
program to earn employment with an accounting firm only to be
discovered that your degree is basically worthless. Most
likely, you would be fired. You can avoid this type of
situation and many others by sticking to proven methods.
